Motorola has now announced its third upcoming smartphone in the Milestone series - the Motorola Milestone 2. It is soon going to be launched in many parts of the world. With the new Motorola Milestone 2, the company will be introducing yet another solid Android device with advanced MotoBlur feature.

The Motorola Milestone 2 is certainly going to attract high-end smartphones lovers as it combines some of the best elements of the previous two Milestones - Motorola Milestone and Motorola Milestone XT720 smartphone.

Similar to its predecessor, the Motorola Milestone 2 is a bit of a handful at 116x61x14mm and 169g. It packs a 3.7-inch, 480x854 pixel capacitive touchscreen display at the front which has a sliver of touch sensitive buttons beneath it in standard Android style: menu, home, back and search.

You can find around the sides the volume rocker, shutter button and uncovered mini USB power/sync port. Also, there's a 3.5mm headphone jack and a power/screen lock button on the top panel of the device.

The latest Moto smartphone packs the very latest 2.2 version (Froyo) of Android, which adds a few style and functionality tweaks including the ability to turn the handset into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot for use with up to five other devices (but it kills the battery).

You can enjoy seven home screens on the Motorola Milestone 2 version, each of which can be populated with widgets and shortcuts in the usual Android way. There's also a neat little bar at the bottom of the screen which displays a series of dots to show you which screen you're on.

There is no denying in the fact that we were literally impressed by the Motoblur functionality when it was first introduced on the DEXT. It comes with the amazing feature to pull together all your Facebook, Twitter and email alerts into a single stream and hold them in the cloud so that you can access it anywhere. However, it is quite surprising that why it was left off the original Milestone, for reasons best known to Motorola.

It certainly is a welcome addition. The device comes equipped with an enhanced version with customisable Motoblur widgets which can be adjusted for size and shape, by pressing and then stretching the borders. For socially active users, it's a great way to keep up with their social networking.

Additionally, the smartphone packs a powerful 1GHz processor which only really started to show some signs of lag when we tried to multi-task or when we worked on running the maximum of seven functions simultaneously.

Although, the original Milestone featured a decent slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but it is more better with the second edition. In fact, by doing away with the unnecessary D-pad, Motorola has been able to add a few more keys (there's 45 now) and spread them out a little and they're easier to find under the thumbs. With the whole made from tactile rubberised plastic it's really a lovely keyboard to use.
