Priced attractively at a sub Rs 5,000 range, these devices carry not only a very impressive specs sheet that belies their price tag but also stand to compete with some of the mid-range smartphones.

The company that re-invented the budget smartphone phone market in India with its Mi-3 is back with its second stunning offering with Mi Redmi 1s. From the house of Xiaomi, Mi Redmi 1s is a device that truly belies its budget price tag. At Rs 5,999, the device houses a 4.7-inch HD display with 1280x720 pixel resolution and 2000 mAh battery. Powering up the device is a quad-core 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 mobile chipset and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (topped with MIUI) with 1 GB RAM. The dual SIM ( 3G network SIM + 2G network SIM) also offers a 8 GB built-in storage and comes with a additional memory card slot.

On the rear of the device is a 8-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash while the front is adorned by a 1.6-megapixel camera. The camera unit also offers a slew of handy editing features like burst mode, auto-focus, zero shutter lag, HDR and real-time filters. Powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, the device houses 1 GHz dual core processor with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB ROM. Camera is taken care of by a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera. The dual-SIM dual standby device (with one 3G support) is powered by a 1400 mAh battery. Carrying a price tag of Rs 2,999, the device is seen sporting a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, latest Android Kitkat 4.4 operating system and a 1500 mAh battery that promises to offer 6-8 hours of talk time. Like other devices in this category, Amaze too supports dual-SIM capability along with a 3.5-inch display a 2-megapixel primary camera and a 0.3-mega pixel secondary camera with 256 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM.

4. Spice Smart Flo Mi-359

Another Android 4.4 KitKat smartphone from the house of Spice, Smart Flo Mi-359 makes for a decent buy in this category. This dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) device with dual standby support arrives with a 3.5-inch TFT LCD display.

It uses a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean to function. A 3.2 megapixel rear camera with flash, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, and GPS feature are also included in this dual-SIM device.
