Ask.com Android app released
Published on Aug 26, 2011
Ask.com is one of the biggest search-engine giants. It has recently launched an app that provides the user with answers to his/her questions on the go. It comes equipped with features such as a voice-to-text and a follow feature. It is available for download on Android Marketplace and Amazon Appstore for Android.
Jason Rupp, senior director of product management at Ask.com was quoted as saying in a recent press release, “we have placed a big bet on mobile as part of our growth strategy, and it's paying off with four times the answer rate as our site users. Over the last three quarters there was triple digit growth in traffic from smartphones to the Ask.com mobile site, and 60 percent of that was Android. To win in mobile, you must win on Android.”
Ask.com’s app is a unique effort on the part of the company. Using the app, one can ask a question and get answers from real people giving an on-the-go experience.
It comes with a voice-to-text feature using which a user can simply ask questions (vocally) rather than typing them out. It also shows web results along with peoples’ answers.
Ask.com also provides the user with access to Ask.com community through which one can put his/her question to a real user and respond to other users’ questions.
Along with that it comes with a push-notifications alert that alerts as soon as somebody posts an answer to your question. Especially for Android users, Ask.com has introduced a Q & A feature using which consumers can filter topics that match their profiles.
The Ask.com Android app follows in the footsteps of the iPhone app from the same website that has already crossed a million users.
