Samsung Places app review

With this app you can explore the nearest restaurants, ATM’s, petrol Pumps and all other places which are accessible via GPS.

It works on GPS technology just like the Google map and MapmyIndia search engine. But it is similar to the MapmyIndia ShowNearby app. With this app you can access places via  Google map - ( the nearest places) and also filter out the category further based on your preferences.

In this app you have several tabs like restaurants, pubs, ATM’s among others. E.g when you click on the pubs, it will show you all the nearest pubs and when you need to find a petrol pump, you can check out the nearest pumps and then by moving to the map mode you can reach your destination using the shortest time and shortest distance options.

This app is therefore quite handy and can aid tremendously during emergencies. For instance, if you are trapped anywhere and you need money in emergency then you can checkout the nearest ATM’s, your tank is low on fuel, among others.

You can access this app from your handset through a Internet connection - 3G or Wi-Fi network. The better Internet speed your handset derives the faster results and maps will function.

The Good: The good thing in this app is it gives instant result. Its layout is very simple. Within a few minutes anyone who has ever used the Google map can understand that how it works. It gives category base search result. Every restaurant or any other place that you search you can check out its pictures, address and the contact numbers. So, you can call up them also.

The Bad: It doesn’t have filter option or sub-categories. For instance, if you need particularly Italian restaurants then you can’t search like that.  It doesn’t give cuisine based search etc. It gives a common result.
