Nokia launches 'IM for Nokia' app for free messaging

The Finnish mobile phones manufacturing giant Nokia has finally launched its own instant messaging client dubbed as IM for Nokia. The service allows Nokia device users to exchange messages with customers using the same app, and those following: Ovi Mail account, Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and My Space IM.

The new Nokia IM service has been introduced a few days after Apple announced its iMessage at its WWDC 2011 event, which is seen by many tech expertes as a direct take on RIM's BlackBerry Messenger services.

This Nokia's Instant messenger service is currently available for free which can be downloadd at the company's Ovi Store. However, IM for Nokia tool will come integrted with all the new upcoming Nokia smartphones in the market.

For using this app, users have to load the app in the applications menu of their Nokia handset and log in accessing their Ovi account or they might even use other accounts like Google Talk. After that, you need to press the menu button present at the bottom left of the screen and then you can select Add friends or import contacts through email address or Contacts.

For chatting over the phone using this application, a user has to press a friend's name and the chat window will appear. There is also an option to keep the app running in the background to receive chats for entire day, which can be done by pressing hide.

Yor Nokia mobile phone's homescreen widget will keep you reminded that you are online and if you are chatting to anybody. There's also a 'Do not disturb' mode or the 'Invisible' mode, which users may find quite useful.

Presently this Nokia messenger app is available for Nokia X6, Nokia 5230, Nokia N8, Nokia E7 and few more handsets. It will also be available on Sybian Series 40 phones from Nokia very soon.
