HTC One M8 review round up
KYMI rounds up the latest reviews on HTC's latest Android beast, One M8 and what makes it the new king of the droids
HTC M8 may have been the company's worst kept secret, but we are glad that it's finally official! The Taiwanese manufacturer had bowled us over with its 2013 flagship device, HTC One, and while we thought it wasn't possible to one up the flagship device, we stand corrected.
HTC's newest flasghip device, One M8 has the same impressive DNA like its sibling, HTC One. With its jaw dropping package, the device is capable of performing lots of amazing things which undoubtedly makes it one of the most impressive handset by the Taiwanese maker.
The handset runs on Android KitKat 4.4.2 OS and is powered by 2.3 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. It features a 2GB RAM along with the latest Sense 6.0 UI. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the 5-inch display of the device offers 1080p resolution along with 441 pixel density. Others impressive features include a duo 4-megapixel Ultrapixel rear snapper, 5-megapixel front camera, powerful dual front speakers, expandable memory up to 128GB and 2600 mAh battery.
Considering the spec sheet, HTC One M8 seems to be a perfect device but will it really prove to be a game changer for HTC? The tech enthusiasts and experts believe so.
While the folks at BGR believe it to be the 'best Android phone the world has ever seen', those at CNET rank it as an outstanding device that steals the show. Folks at Tech Radar go a step further by giving the device a perfect score of 5 star. They also laud HTC for having done it again - 'creating a stunning phone with very few flaws.'
The accolades and praises meted out to the newly unveiled Android smartphone are not without a reason. In
comparison to its predecessor, right from the aesthetics and design to the power and everything in between, HTC One M8, steps up the game.
The device has the tech enthusiasts drooling not only over the gorgeous 5-inch 1080p display panel which brings the perfect colours and brightness, but also its aluminium body, powerful quad core processor, expandable memory upto 128 GB and depth camera sensing among others. The dual frontal speakers are also appreciated by the experts for being the loudest and the best phone speakers.
Infact the experts at Tech Crunch feel that the, 'new HTC One seems like a solid improvement on the original, and that should be enough to make it a great phone, if not the best Android smartphone available.'
However there are a few niggles that can't be ignored. One of the major one is the presence of a non removable battery. This is followed by the presence of power button on the top, which is quite annoying. Another issue pertains to the poor working of camera in bright light. Infact HTC One M8 makes an excellent smartphone choice for anyone but the most exacting photographer.
HTC One M8 is no doubt a tough challenger in the current Android market space, but only time will tell whether HTC will the hit the right chord with consumers as well as take on its arch rival Galaxy S5 among others with its latest device.
The handset is expected to be available from 3rd of week of April in India. Will you be picking up HTC M8 as your next phone?
