LG Cookie Fresh review (2)

The budget nature of the LG Cookie Fresh is quite evident when you browse at the tech specs of this device. It doesn't offer 3G, but only quad band GSM. Also, it lacks Wi-Fi, offers Bluetooth.

Also, the GPS functionality is missing from this handset. It sports a basic camera that shoots at a rather miserable 2 megapixels and lacks flash, which is very limiting.

Then it presents a low budget screen too. Although, we found its 240 x 400 pixels clear, sharp and bright enough, but it was resistive - you need to press rather harder to make sure that certain contact has been made.

If you are a frequent texter, you will find that there are several modes for entering text. The device displays a wide screen with a QWERTY keyboard, but it's a tad too small and you need to be cautious to be very accurate with it while texting.

In tall mode, there's an alphanumeric keypad and handwriting recognition options too, but there's not room for a QWERTY option. Although, these all features work decently, but there's not much chance of getting up to cracking speeds.

LG Cookie Fresh offers a side slot for microSD cards, a button for using the camera, and, additionally, a 3.5mm headset connector on the top edge.

The LG Cookie Fresh comes preloaded with an FM radio, which has a fairly decent music player for a handset of this price. You'll be pleased to note that the antenna for the radio is packed inside the handset, so you don’t have to have the headphones plugged in to use it.

In short, the LG Cookie Fresh (LG GS290) is quite an impressive handset within a modest budget.

However, if you can manage with a small, resistive screen and absence of 3G and Wi-Fi, you will find it to be a fare enough device. On the positive notes, the phone packs in plenty of in-built software and it is also small and light. Overall, we think the LG Cookie Fresh (LG GS290) is pretty good value for money.
