On the flip side, you may find texting experience a bit infuriating with this device, in both the T9 portrait mode and QWERTY landscape option, because the screen size is too small to use without a stylus.

The LG Pep has clearly been designed for people who aren't too confident with their mobiles, with actions such as changing a predicted word or selecting a contact requiring a number of taps.

As a result texts become an arduous process for those who are technologically competent with illogical button layout compounding the problem.

The touchscreen is often unpredictable, highlighted regularly by the unlock button which must be held for a couple of seconds to activate the phone. If pressed too hard or lightly you will be unsuccessful in unlocking the phone.

The LG Pep is much slower than mid-market touchscreen phones. Loading times, although not long, make accessing media and applications slightly tedious. Even basic processes like getting to the letter 'C' during an unpredicted text is far from instant.

The device offers loads of fun applications. Music world, Flying dice, Golf slope is offered with Cookie Pep as fun stuff. Pocket apps for this handset include Mellow candle, Mind selector, Sound tuner, Banner, Weight tracker and Running mate.

For games and apps lovers, LG Cookie Pep is fully loaded with Just Cricket, Thomsons & Touch, Data Wallet, NewsHunt and NDTV Active. With the embedded fun graphical interface and pocket applications, users can enjoy live cricket simulation on their device.

The LG Cookie Pep GD510 is an average budget touchscreen phone that will only suit those who need limited features. Multimedia is probably the main selling point, although you'll struggle to get a huge amount out of the camera.

LG Cookie Pep GD510 info

Typical price: Rs. 7,500

Pros:
Large touchscreen
Minimalist looks

Cons:
No 3G
No Wi-Fi
Unpredictable touchscreen
Slow to operate

Verdict: A budget device with unresponsive touchscreen. Great for a starter, but a Corby series device is a better choice compared to this Cookie series phone in our opinion.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5
