KYMI rounds up all the news and rumours about Micromax's latest offering, the much anticipated Canvas 4 smartphone

Micromax is known for its functional, affordable devices and the tech giant is once again ready to capture the imagination of Indian smartphone consumers with a new and improved handset. The Canvas 4 is scheduled to be unveiled on June 28, 2013 and is expected to create quite a buzz in the market with its release.

Though Micromax has kept a number of details about the Canvas 4 under wraps, its many teasers hint at some of its new-age specs. The handset is believed to pack in a 5.5-inch Full HD display and given the tech major's history with large screens, is expected to offer some pretty gorgeous imagery. The size of the display of course makes it ideal for watching videos and surfing the web on the go.

The Canvas 4 reportedly packs in a 13-megapixel primary camera that is located at the top left corner of its rear panel. In addition, the handset is believed to sport a secondary shooter with a 2-megapixel or a 5-megapixel sensor.

There is no word out as yet about the storage options on the Canvas 4 but the tech world is hoping that Micromax will give it at least 16 GB of built-in memory with the option to extend it externally by another 32 GB. It will be ideal if the smartphone packs in a RAM of 2 GB.

The speculation that is making tech enthusiasts sit up and take notice of the Canvas 4 more than anything else is that surrounding its processor. The Android 4.2.2 smartphone is apparently powered by an octa-core chipset that makes it one of the fastest and most responsive devices of its kind. In addition, the handset is rumoured to offer users a new way to unlock it as well.

If its teasers are anything to go by, the Canvas 4 seems to sport a brushed aluminium finish on its back panel in addition to its chrome plated sides. The handset looks every bit like a premium handset and it's no wonder that it is expected to be priced somewhere in the range of Rs. 23,000 and Rs. 25,000.

Micromax will release what is easily its most exciting offering yet on June 28 and pre-orders are expected to start immediately. Stay tuned to KYMI for more news, views and reviews about the formidable Canvas 4.
