Update: Micromax Canvas 4 to be priced at Rs.15,990
Micromax's upcoming flagship, the Canvas 4, will repotedly sell for Rs.15,990, making it an absolute value for money
Indian smartphone giant Micromax has been going head on with MNCs for quite a while and the resultant growth that the company has been witnessing is phenomenal to say the least. Now the tech major is all set to launch its next flagship, the Canvas 4, which has just had its pictures leaked on to the interweb. Another piece of news has recently skipped on to the internet and created ripples of its own. The price of the device is reportedly Rs. 15,990. We even have some specifications of the handset for you.
The Micromax Canvas 4 is believed to be powered by a 2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor which is expected to be way ahead of the current 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 chit set that is found on most of today's budget devices. To help the very capable processor along is a 2GB RAM that not only makes sure that users can enjoy smooth multitasking on the device but also that they never run out of memory while multitasking.
Taking charge of the graphics department is a PowerVR Series 5XT GPU which is expected to be quite the capable performer. The smartphone most probably runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean but Micromax might just surprise us by launching it with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ou-of-the-box. The screen of the phone is a 5.5-inch Full HD unit thats pretty bright, to say the least. The camera department on the handset is taken care of by a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 3.2-megapixel front facer for video calling and last minute vanity checks.
The Micromax Canvas 4 is expected to pack in 8GB/16GB of internal storage along with the option of expanding the memory by another 32GB externally. The phone's connectivity package sees Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi and interestingly, NFC. Giving it the juice to run will be a 3,000 mAh battery but it might just be a little paltry for a device with this big a screen and a Full HD resolution.
Nonetheless, June 28 is when the company will lift the wraps off the device. Who knew 5 years back that Micromax will be giving giants like Samsung, HTC and Nokia a run of their money in the Rs.15,000 segment? Micromax truly is nothing like anything.
