In fact, the QWERTY keypad with trackball is a nice surprise package that we experienced first with this device. It's clearly designed for heavy texters as the keys are larger and seem to be slightly raised as if bubblewrapped.
Once you descend from screen to the keypad, you will find the navigation keys of this device quite simple to use. It includes a smooth trackball and then there are the call key, the power/end key, a home key, a back button and a search key.
Besides that it features a dedicated key for Facebook MSN app launch. Then there is a standard 3.5mm mini USB socket positioned at the base of the handset. Overall, the navigation keys of this device are simple and easy to use.
The Micromax Ezpad Q5 sports a basic 2 megapixel camera. The camera of the device offers limited features and the images taken from this camera are also of average standard. The Ezpad Q5’s camera also works as a webcam when connected via USB. Although, there is digital zoom feature, but still the images lack brightness and clarity.
The Micromax Q5 is a Bluetooth A2DP ready device that allows conference call facility as well. For seamless connectivity, the handset is enabled with EDGE, GPRS, WAP 2.0. For browsing needs, the device offers Opera browser. However, on the memory front, the device lacks sufficient space. It offers a very nominal internal memory of 15MB with expandable memory via MicroSD up to 8GB.
On the positive notes, the music player is another plus point of this device. It comes with a very simple interface and the control options are also standard. You can play different audio formats on this device which include MP3, WAV, MIDI, AAC, AAC+ and AMR.
There is also a decent video player embedded with the device. The phone has a basic but cool audio/video player. The phone offers stereo FM radio with RDS feature for music lovers too. The FM radio comes preloaded with Yamaha Audio Amplifier that gives a wonderful music experience on this device.
Integrated with Li-ion 1000mAh battery, the phone offers talk time up to 5 hours and standby time up to 180 hours. The phonebook memory for the device boasts of 1000 entries along with 1000 SMS memory. The device further offers users the feature of creating and managing caller groups. Once you create a group, you can sync them with their photos and polyphonic ringtones.

The sales package of the device contents transceiver, standard battery and charger, handsfree kit, user guide and service guide. The Micromax Q5 mobile phone is offered at a price tag of Rs. 5,100 in India.
Overall, the Micromax Ezpad Q5 is our very own desi BlackBerry-esque device offered at a very reasonable price tag. The device promises a raft of social networking tools, superb connectivity, good multimedia experience to attract young mobile phone users. However, it disappoints somewhat on the camera and display front.
