MTNL, Novatium launch MTNL Nova Navigator

MTNL has launched Broadband cum Navigator combo tariff plan for its consumers in the Delhi region as a promotional offer. The launch attempts to boost cloud computing with the latest Nova Navigator device.

Customers subscribing netPC are free to choose any broadband plan of prevailing tariff and terms & conditions. However to promote the service in entry level plan, some "Broadband cum Navigator" plans on promotional basis are offered for first 90 days.

Under the promotional offer, MTNL is charging a monthly rental of Rs. 599 for offering the combo plan with Nova Navigator Device and a high speed broadband connectivity at about 256 Kbps. Besides the Unlimited Plan, MTNL offers two limited plans at a price offer of Rs. 299 and Rs. 449 with a monthly free data download capacity of about 400 MB and 1 GB at a speed of about 2 Mbps. For Rs. 299 and Rs. 449 rental plan, the download charges beyond free usage are Rs. 1 and Rs. 0.80 per MB respectively.

The installation charges for the navigator are Rs. 350 while the user needs to pay Rs. 4599 exclusive of taxes for the device equipped with a navigator, key board and mouse. For non-broadband users, the Installation/MTNL Broadband Registration/Initial Modem charges are about Rs. 450.

Novatium, MTNL's technology partner, will offer a free-of-charge 2GB pen drive for first 90 days to all its customers from 8 July who opted for any Broadband cum Navigator combo Tariff plans within the promotional offer period.

On the other hand, the regular tariff plan requires the user to pay a monthly tariff of Rs. 249 for utility computing services with installation charges of Rs. 700. The user needs to pay Rs. 4999 exclusive of taxes for the device equipped with a navigator, key board and mouse. For adding 160 GB HDD, the user has to make payment of Rs. 7099 exclusive of taxes. Novatium intends to offer a 2GB pen drive free of cost as promotional offer for first 90 days.

MTNL Nova Navigator is easy to Plug & Play and is a 'zero maintenance' access device. Nova Navigator includes many improved features such as faster browsing and multimedia, 3G supports and plug and play printer support. The device delivers simple functionality and is technically designed to match all software advancements. Additionally, Nova Navigator provides an economical and comprehensive solution for everyone.

The device would be available for new and existing MTNL broadband subscribers in the Delhi region. In addition, the MTNL Nova Navigator would be commercially launched in Mumbai by the end of July. Its widgets-based Active Desktop facilitates users in adding widgets of different genre, and change themes and skins. Ministry of IT and Communications considers Nova Navigator as a world-class innovation for computing in India.
