Vodafone 555 Facebook phone review

Handsets with an integrated Facebook button are slowly becoming a fad. After HTC’s Chacha, Vodafone has come up with its own Facebook handset – the Vodafone 555 Blue. Vodafone is offering this budget phone at a price tag of Rs 4590.

The build and the form factor of this handset are impressive considering it is a budget handset. When people tap the keys, they can hear a definite click, ensuring fewer mistakes while typing. The Silver body and the curvy edges of the handset are surely good-looking, if not impressive. Along with that, there are blue highlights and a volume rocker button adding to the style statement of this phone.

The 555 Blue handset comes with a QWERTY keypad that looks similar to a Blackberry keypad. The keypad, combined with the Facebook button is made-to-order for social networking addicts.

 The Space key on this keypad is bigger than the ones found on other QWERTY phones. Both the keypad and the Facebook button are designed to adhere to your social networking needs. Moreover, it offers dedicated Facebook shortcuts and immediate Facebook login as soon as you switch on the phone.

Above the keypad, there is a row of dedicated shortcut keys. The call and call end keys are situated on the edges of the phone while there are two soft menu keys in between them. An optical touchpad is situated in the middle. Although, it might be considered a tad too small, the touchpad is mightily responsive, which is an important feature since the Vodafone 555 Blue is not a touchscreen phone. 

The device also includes a 2-megapixel LED Flash camera adding to the joy of being connected. It enables people to share photos along with updating their Facebook status. Along with that, it has a 3.5 mm jack situated in the centre of top of the handset.

Although the 40 MB on-board storage might be considered measly, one can easily expand the storage capacity of this phone using a 32 GB MicroSD card.
