Zen Mobile has taken a big leap forward with the launch of its new Zen Flikk handset. The high point of this device is its super fast touch display which is powered by Feather Touch technology. Also, the M45 model offers loads of features and social networking tools for the users.
We have got our hands on this sleek Zen M45 handset and it really appears impressive on the first looks. The device is lightweight and it packs 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen with screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. On the bottom of the front panel of this device there are three keys.
On the left there is call button, through which you can receive or dial a call. On the middle there's a flat square-shaped D-pad which offers shortcut keys, music, SMS interface and Bluetooth. The lower left button works as on-off key, disconnecting calls and locking the phone.
The back panel of the device integrates its 3.2-megapixel camera. On the front top there's a charging USB port on the left and an audio jack port on the right beside it. The device gives an impression of rubberized metal coating on the back panel with a shiny black finish.
Before we move further, let's walk through the vital statistics of this device. The Zen Flikk mobile phone comes equipped with a 2.8 inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen display, 3.2-megapixel camera, MP3/MP4 and expandable memory up to 16GB. It has dual SIM (GSM + GSM), Bluetooth, FM radio, 3.5 mm audio jack and Edge support.
The device boasts of a new feather touch technology to offer enhanced touch experience to the users. The new Zen mobile comes preloaded with music player, video player, Opera Mini browser, Nimbuzz and Facebook apps. It integrates pinch to zoom in and zoom out, customizable widgets and handwriting recognition features.
Once you insert you SIM into the device and switch it on, you land on to the home screen of the handset. The left panel of the display screen provides space for date, time, music and Dog Star who runs errands and notifies you of any new mail, message or tool arrival. On the bottom of the display screen, you have three icons. Left one for four different home screens, middle one for shortcut menus and the right one for operator's offerings.
The first home screen has icons for Opera Mini, calendar, to-do list, profiles, camcorder, camera, music, video, photo, file manager, time and call log. Then you have Dialer, phonebook, message and setting tabs at the bottom which is common on all the four home screens.
On the second interface, you get menus for Java, recorder, FM, WAP, E-book, connect, BMI calculator, Big 2 game, Fruit game, Sketch app, converter and timer silence.
The next screen offers Seucrity center, Facebook launch button, alarm, Blutooth, Calculator, Countdown timer, World Clock, SIM1 service, SIM2 service, note, stopwatch and call recording facilities. You can avail Flashlight, Pacman game and Dog Star in the fourth screen of the device.
And above all, the Zen Flikk M45 mobile phone comes covered with screen protector that makes your phone scratch free. It's a clear and non-reflective shield that keeps your screen always new, even after long usage of the device.
Now, back to the high points and low points of the device. The device has been promoted by the company for its latest Feather touch technology. For those who are not aware of this technology or those who haven't yet got their hands on this device, the Flikk has got powered by the innovative Feather touch technology which helps screen respond even to the lightest touch.
You need to try this feature on this device to believe it. The Zen Flikk M45 really comes with extremely responsive touchscreen. The device follows even a lightest tap. In fact the display is so fast at times that you end up fetching wrong results in hurry due to its super fast response.
The new Flikk scores 9 out of 10 for bringing this technology to a budget handset in the Indian market. We must say that after analyzing several new or high-end devices, we have hardly come across any device which is even close to the responsiveness of the touchscreen of this device.
