Moto G India release date confirmed for January 2014
Motorola's latest budget smartphone will arrive in India in the first quarter of next year
After teasing it for some time, Motorola finally revealed its low-cost Android smartphone, the Moto G. The smartphone is aimed for a wide release with availability in at least 30 countries with India being one of them.
It has been confirmed that Motorola will be entering the Indian market after a brief break. The Moto G will be the first Motorola device after the company got acquired by Google.
While the Moto G has already gone on sale in Brazil and parts of Europe, Indian consumers will have to wait till next year to grab the device. The device is set to hit the Indian shores in early January around the same time when it will go on sale in the United States and the Middle East.
The budget smartphone is mainly aimed at developing countries where low cost smartphones . The company has revealed that an unlocked Moto G will set you back by only $179(Approximately Rs. 11,500) for the 8 GB model and $199(Approximately Rs. 12,500) for the 16 GB model in the USA.
The budget smartphone maintains a pretty impressive specification sheet despite its price. The phone comes with a 4.5-inch screen sporting a 720p resolution. It is powered by a 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. It comes in two storage variants, 8 GB and 16 GB, with no support for expandable storage. On the photography front, Motorola has given the Moto G a 5-megapixel shooter.
The device will run an ‘almost’ stock version of Android as was seen in the Moto X.
Motorola is targeting a very fertile price segment with the Moto G. If they can price it properly in India, it will give all the domestic manufacturers a run for their money.
