Alibaba Group, a chinese e-commerce giant has introduced its own mobile operating system in China. It works on both mobile phones as well as tablets.
A subsidiary of the company, Alibaba Cloud Computing has recently revealed the Aliyun OS, a Linux-based operating system.
The handset will be available in China by the end of this month for around 2,680 yuan (Rs.18,334 approx.). A tablet supporting this operating system is also in the pipe-line, which will be launched by Q4 end in China.
The newly launched Aliyun OS is highly capable as it can run Android apps as well as Web-based apps built with HTML 5 or JavaScript. This excellent attribute will let Alibaba and third-party developers to more easily provide online products to the gadgets, through OS without any need to download a software, stated Wang Jian, president of Alibaba Cloud Computing.
He added "The business model on the Web is already established." He further stated, "if you can bring the Web on to the phone, you can basically bring that business model on to the phone."
The operating system also offers 100 GB of virtual data storage over the Internet to each user. It allows you to store all your images, contact lists and messages in your online account.
