In an age where a new tablet is launched everyday, it has come as a surprise that Sony has ventured so late in the market. Sony might be late to the party, but if we know Sony, it is anything but a slogger.

With its new range of tablets, Sony has surely provided us with a tablet that is worth the wait. Let me introduce you to the Sony S range of tablets.

There are two things that Sony is renowned for - its sleekness and its clarity. The pin-stripe displays of the S1 and S2 indicate that Sony has stood up to the mark this time. With regard to looks, this one is the baap of all tablets.

Firstly, the S1. With this tablet, Sony has ventured into a territory that many fear to tread. The S1 is a direct competitor to Apple's iPad. The device has a thin, curved and tapered body with a sleek 10-inch display.

The S1 has many interesting features. It is DLNA compatible and inherits its clarity from the BRAVIA family. It even includes all the features of Sony's famed gaming device, the Playstation.

It will most probably run on a dual core TEGRA processor and will have the Android 3.0 - Honeycomb OS as its operating system. Like the iPad 2, it comes in two categories - Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G. It will most likely be a high-end tablet like the HTC tablet and the Motorola Xoom.

The S2 on the other hand has even more interesting specs.

It is touted to be a gamer's tablet and takes after the Playstation series. It is the world's first dual screen tablet. Instead of a typical dual screen, it has two 5.5 inch screens.

The S2 easily flips between applications and one can even run different applications on these.

Sony is currently keeping the S2 a super-secret. But from what we have heard, these tablets can be expected to light the market on fire.

Sony takes pre-orders for its tablets from Sept. 1.
