Published on Aug 4, 2011
Who hasn't heard of dual-core processors?
They are a commonality nowadays. Almost every new smartphone comes with a dual-core processor. It makes a phone function fast and smooth. In fact it is the powerhouse of a smartphone.
But Nvidia, the company that makes the famous Tegra range of processors has taken it to the next level.
Let me introduce you to the upcoming Tegra 3 processor.
Tegra 3 comes from a lineage of successful processors. The Tegra 2 has been one of the most popular processors of 2011. Most of the tablets and smartphones that have been launched recently have a Tegra 2 processor. This processor has been known to make a phone fast and efficient. So, naturally one can only expect the Tegra 3 to be better. Nvidia doesn't disappoint you on that count.
The Tegra 3 will supercede anyone's expectations with its quad core processor and its Graphics processing Unit (GPU) with 12 core and the capability to provide an enhanced resolution 2560 x 1200 p. What this means is that it will give us 5 times more power than the current 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor.
At this rate, the Tegra 3 stands to outdo any processor out there in the market. It will offer the speediest browsing speed ever armed with the best multi-tasking capacity in the market. Even apps will respond faster with a quad core processor such as Tegra 3. Playing games will be more than a pleasure with this processor.
On the downside, apps might need to be rewritten to adjust to this processor. But once that is done, multitasking or even running heavy games will be easier than ever.
According to Nvidia, tablets armed with Tegra 3 will release this fall while smartphones armed with this processor will release next year.
We are waiting with bated breaths.
