Google has finally decided to fight back with its competitors who are trying to pull down the Android with their fake mobile patent claims. According to the latest bog post, David Drummond, Google’s Chief legal officer, said that Android has really brought something new in the market and it is the hostile organized against the Android by Microsoft, Oracle, Apple and other competitors.
Drummond pointed out that everyday cases on the patent infringement against Google and Android partners have been heard in the mobile industry to avoid the threat of legal action. He wrote that he has an experience of over two decades in tech sector and when Apple and Microsoft who always have been each other throat’s goes to the same bed then it’s a crucial issue to think upon that what they are upto.
But whatever, this is the first response that we have got so far from Google on the heated issue of Nortel patent auction- in which, it’s claimed by Microsoft, Apple, RIM and others that Google has acquired around 6,000 patents for $4.5 billion. Google claimed in the blog post that these patents are bogus, largely questionable, and dubious and the biggest problem with these patents is that its vagueness, which can be interpreted in several ways.
According to the Google these companies wanted to bolster their patent portfolios. So that whenever they will be sued they can claim that they have their ownership on these patents.
They just wanted to make it difficult for us to sell the Android handsets. And they wanted to show that the Android is not a free source, even it is licensed and Microsoft, Apple and others will extract profit out of it, claimed Drummond.
