LG Thrill 4G is another addition to the list of upcoming 4G handsets. It was initially prepped for an August 7th release, but now it's release has been extended to August 21st. Even though the release has been delayed, the handset has made an appearance in Best Buy's product catalog for this month.
According to speculations, Best Buy is set to offer the phone for pre-orders soon.
Let us take a look at this upcoming device.
LG Thrill 3D, the predecessor of this phone was launched in India as LG Optimus 3D. This phone was equipped with a 4.3” 2560 x 1920p screen that supported glasses-free 3D using the parallax barrier technology to achieve the 3D effect.
The new phone, the LG Thrill 4G is an upgrade to this one. Although it offers the same screen, it is equipped with a dual 5-megapixel camera that makes it easy to capture 3D images and videos. It plays 1080p videos in 2D and 720p in 3D.
This phone looks quite similar to the Optimus 3D. Unfortunately, it inherits its bulkiness from this phone. But the good news is that it packs a lot of power with its dual-core CPU. It runs on 512 MB RAM with 8 GB internal and 32 GB expandable storage. It will most probably run on Android 2.2, which you can upgraded to Android 2.3.
This Android phone comes loaded with goodies like LG 3D UI, accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyro sensor etc.
But we would keep on harping the fact that India is not yet even 3G ready. Is 4G for real? Probably not for the Indian audience under the present circumstances. But we expect 4G availabilty by the end of next year. Yet, hopes are hopes. There is no knowing if they will be fulfilled.
Not to deviate from the topic, lets get bac to the phone. The phone's power source lies in its 1500mAh battery. It seems quite a standard 4G phone. We hope to get our hands on it soon.
According to speculations, this phone would be released in India this fall. It is expected to be priced around 30K-35K.
Till then, watch this space for anything and everything on smartphones.
