Motorola Droid Bionic

Published on Aug 9, 2011

The Motorola Droid Bionic was launched the CES 2011. Since then it has generated a lot of hype. Firstly, it was delayed due to software troubles, then it was revamped and finally, it is set to be released in early September.

Over the course of time, much about the handset has been leaked. As a matter of fact, pictures of its front, side and back had been leaked earlier. Just yesterday, two more leaks surfaced online - the user manual and pictures showing its battery panel.

Lets start from the beginning. According to the launch at CES, the handset was touted to have a 4.3" qHD display along with a powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1 GHz processor, an 8 MP camera and 512 MB RAM.

Then it was rumored that it was going to be revamped. The new specs included a 4.5" qHD display, a 4430 dual-core chipset. Additionally, it was touted to offer Webtop connectivity and a full Firefox browser. But the most exciting feature of the Droid Bionic would be that it would support 4G connectivity.

In a bizarre twist, Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha confirmed two weeks back that the phone would have additional features such as improved form factor and functionality along with extra RAM. It would have a sleek and lightweight body. Along with that, he stated that the phone would be motor responsive than its predecessors and support 4G functionality.

But the story takes another turn. Just recently, the leaked user manual for this phone indicated that it would support a 4.3" screen instead of the speculated 4.5".

And finally, the battery panel for this phone was leaked. The pictures showed this phone with a large battery, possibly 1900 mAh - one of the most powerful smartphone batteries ever. Not surprising, as the phone is expected to run a dual-core processor along with 4G.

According to what we have heard, the Motorola Droid Bionic seems an attractive 4G smartphone. We surely hope that it dazzles the market the way it is expected to.

Watch this space for more on 4G and smartphones.
