Android Ice Cream sandwich leaked
Published on Aug 12, 2011
Google announced the Ice Cream Sandwich update some months ago at the Google I/O Developer Conference. There is however no word on the launch of the update besides a rumor that it will be rolled out during the latter part of this year. And now to a website has managed to get its hands onto some pictures of the new Ice Cream Sandwich update, running on a Google Nexus S.
The images were leaked last evening and have been circulating all over the internet since then, creating quite a buzz. Expectations are generally high since Android is very popular worldwide.
There are quite a few changes to the operating system, but not as much as one would expect. There is no confirmation about the authenticity of these images; hence it will be too early to comment on that.
But with one glimpse of the image(s), one can make out that the user interface has been slightly improved or changed rather. Some of the changes come in the form of a different looking app drawer, inclusion of Google Shopper app which will benefit greatly from the NFC capabilities, improved Gmail theme and a new panorama mode in the camera application. The power control widget looks the same as on the current versions of Android.
It was previously rumored that the Ice Cream Sandwich OS will be launched with the new Nexus device which for now is believed to be the Nexus Prime.
This handset apparently will be manufactured by Samsung and will feature top notch hardware specifications to impress the tech savvy folk. But bear in mind that these are mere rumors and there is every possibility of a different device being launched. But looking at the current market situation and counting on the success of the Google Nexus S, it is safe to believe that Samsung will continue the Nexus legacy.
