APPLE V/S SAMSUNG

The tablet battle between Apple and Samsung has stretched to new limits. According to a report from Webworld.nl, Apple might be tampering with the evidence. The photographic evidence submitted by Apple and found on page 28 of Apple's complaint, seems to have been distorted to match the iPad.

Ever since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Samsung and Apple have been at loggerheads. But, the game is set to change with this new development.

Last week, Apple managed to block the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia and EU, baring the Netherlands. Until now, Apple seems to have an edge over Samsung in this tablet war.

“This is a blunder, that such a ‘mistake’ is made in a case about design rights can scarcely be a coincidence. The aspect ratio of the alleged Galaxy Tab is clearly distorted to match the iPad more closely. In as much as this faux pas will have consequences for the case is of course up to the judge. But at least a reprimand by the German court seems to be in order.” says Arnout Groen a Klos Morel Vos & Schaap lawyer.

According to the report, the Galaxy Tab is presented with an aspect ratio of 1.36, while the iPad is presented with a 1.30 aspect ratio. However, the actual Galaxy Tab comes with a 1.46 aspect ratio. This kind of inaccuracy can weaken Apple's case to a great extent. It makes the already stringent battle between the two IT giants even more complicated.

Samsung, on the other hand is set to file an appeal against the EU ban on August 25th. But, the onus of this case lies on the decision of the German court.

Luckily the Indian consumers were not among the ones denied the taste of the tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 were launched recently in Indian market for Rs 36,200 and Rs. 33,990.

Expected to arrive in the market by September, both the tablets come equipped with 1Ghz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM. The latest Galaxy Tabs support 3G HSPA plus network, Bluetooth 3.0,Wi-Fi connectivity and a slew of exciting features for the tablet lovers.

Update : The German court has lifted the ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 shipments for the rest of the European counties. So as of now, the Korean company is free to resume the shipments of the slate through the rest of Europe.
