Engadget got their hands on pictures of the Droid HD sitting next to the Droid Bionic and experts can’t help wondering if the newest member of the Motorola family is going to give the Bionic a run for it’s money.
The Droid HD is so thin that it rivals the Samsung Galaxy S II. What’s more, it has a large touch screen display measuring 4.3’’. .
From the looks of it, the phone runs on Android Gingerbread and is equipped with an 8-mega pixel camera which can record videos at 1080p and includes an LED flash and speaker.
There seems to be a front facing camera too. The Droid HD has the usual set of ports, including those for micro USB and HDMI-out. There are slots for SIM and microSD cards on the side as well.
The phone has a thin, flat Li-Pol battery. It is equipped with a 1 GHz TI OMAP 4430 dual-core CPU, I GB of RAM and micro HDMI, features sure to make the smartphone fast and efficient.
The power and volume buttons fall on the side of the phone. According to speculations the phone may not be a 4G LTE capable device.
Something that has experts guessing is the ‘HD’ in the title. Most are expecting Motorola to come up with its standard gHD display, but a 720p (1280 x 720) display would be a pleasant surprise. After all, the 960 x 540 display won’t look too great on such a huge screen.
The question on everyone’s mind is if Motorola is really about to launch a phone that is bigger and better than the Bionic?
Looks like it’s best to wait and watch out for the official release of the specs before finally choosing the next smartphone you want to buy!
Motorola is riding high these days. The Motorola Mobility arm of the company is expected to be acquired by Google for $12.5 bn. This deal will give Google a mobile manufacturing unit along with Motorola's stocks and patents.
