Beetel has long been known to provide mid range products at prices that are easily affordable to the masses. According to the company’s CEO and ED Vinod Sawhny, their design and development team is working on prototype devices that ‘will change the landscape of the Indian mobile market’ with their Diwali launch.
Though specs and details about the devices are not known, keeping in mind Beetel’s pricing strategy, it’s new Android 2.3 smartphone may retail at around Rs. 9000. CEO and ED Vindo Sawhny reiterated the company’s strategy to provide affordable products to its consumers. However, he did not reveal the price of the smartphone.
Rumour has it that Beetel’s smartphone will run on a Qualcomm 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. This is the same processor that powers the brand’s Magiq tablet. Along with a 3.2’’ display, it will have standard Android applications like Google Maps, Android Market, G-sensor etc.
Since the phone will run on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, users will most likely get to enjoy some great features even in a low/mid range basic model. Android 2.3 provides a faster, more convenient navigation experience on a smartphone that it powers.
The display colours on the Android 2.3 are sharp in contrast to a black background. Besides providing clearer images, the slighter darker screen is a great power saver.
Text messaging is also a breeze with voice activated messaging and easy-to-use editing features. Some other features on the OS include an improved Task Manager and NFC support. What’s more, the system manages apps that run in the background and automatically turns them off in order to save power and prolong battery life.
Looks like Beetel has a bag to goodies ready for its loyalists this Diwali!
