Samsung’s revamped OS Bada 2.0 promises a number of new features on three new Wave smart phones ranging from entry level to premium models. Though specs and pricing of the phones are yet unknown, the devices will most likely hit markets before the end of the year.
Bada 2.0 is going to make multi-tasking seamless, something welcomed by all smartphone loyalists. The OS will also bring with it NFC, voice recognition and Wi-Fi Direct. Web navigation will be enhanced with the Flash and HTML5 support that Bada 2.0 offers.
Some of the enhanced tools of the OS include the Emulator, Profiler and Performance Analyser that ensure the best possible use of memory and processing power. The best feature that Samsung promises in its latest offering is the ability to make payments, recharge transport passes and share files without networking over the internet.
Developers are in for a treat with Bada 2.0 too, since the OS allows them to insert in-app advertisements. Samsung Apps is expanding to more and more countries and Bada 2.0 will now offer users improved purchasing options. Samsung’s platform is most popular in South East Asia, China and Europe where users have appreciated its affordable devices that rate well on functionality. The Bada OS is currently the world’s 5th biggest smartphone platform.
According to Simon Stanford of Samsung UK and Ireland, Bada will be a big focus for the company in the future as Samsung will work to make it a leading mobile platform. In fact, Samsung might just have an announcement about the improved OS and new Wave phones as early as next month at the IFA Tech Conference in Germany.
In the meantime, while we wait and watch what Samsung offers next, app developers can download the Bada 2.0 SDK from the Bada developer site.
