Motorola’s highly anticipated handset, the Droid Bionic, is creating waves again.
The Droid Bionic made a brief appearance at the Motorola online store, but after creating a virtual buzz, the link suddenly disappeared giving rise to speculations that it was accidentally posted. The page now redirects to the main page of the Motorola website.
The Droid Bionic was unveiled at the CES 2011 along with the Motorola Atrix 4G and the Cliq 2. Ever since then, the device has been marred by a delayed release due to software issues.
The handset was revamped and made its first appearance in a leaked flyer in July. Afterwards, more leaks with mug shots of the phone and its parts surfaced from time to time. A 4-minute video of the handset was also leaked online recently.
The official flyer showcased some pictures of the Droid Bionic and enlisted features such as 4G LTE functionality, a 1 GHz processor, 4.3-inch qHD screen and webtop connectivity.
Only some features of the Droid Bionic could be confirmed from the official flyer. The handset is rumored to be additionally equipped with many other features such as a 1900 mAh battery, a Firefox browser, a dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM and 8-megapixel camera.
The appearance and disappearance of the flyer points out to two possibilities – either it is an internal mess-up or a well thought-out PR strategy. Frequent leaks about the handset and its impending release lend more weight to the latter.
Motorola has already announced that the handset would be released somewhere in September although the Verizon website indicates that the phone would be released in the U.S on 8th September with a price tag of $ 299.99.
Its India release date and price are not yet available.
