Known for its high-end large screen smartphones, HTC has made an effort to cash in on the happening 3D market with its new handset, the Evo 3D.
The Evo 3D has been launched in a segment where it faces just one competitor – the LG Optimus 3D. These two are currently the only 3D Android smartphones in the world.
The HTC Evo 3D is like other HTC phones such as Desire and Sensation, a large phone (126 x 65 x 12.1 mm). But the interesting thing is, that doesn’t make it a bulky phone. It is rather lightweight at 170g. In addition to that, it has a plastic body unlike the aluminum body of phones such as the HTC sensation.
The USP of a 3D phone should always be its 3D and the Evo 3D measures up on this count. It is equipped with a 4.3-inch qHD 3D display with a sharp resolution of 540 x 960p. The screen can be used for experiencing 3D functionality and watching 3D images and videos.
Along with that it offers the users 2-megapixel 3D images at a rate of 30 frames per second. It is also equipped with twin 5-megapixel 3D cameras located at the back of the handset and a 1.2-megapixel camera for video calling on the front. These cameras offer 3D imaging at 720p and 2D at 1080p.
This smartphone runs on Android 2.3- Gingerbread OS and is equipped with Qualcomm’s S3 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. In addition to that, it comes with 1 GB of RAM. In layman’s terms, this means it can actually provide standard day-to–day usage both for surfing and working on the phone.
In addition to Adreno 220 GPU integration, the device is equipped with Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi 802.1.1 and Bluetooth 3.0 to ensure high-speed surfing and sharing.
In addition to numerous Android apps, the phone is pre-loaded with HTC locations and friendsteam. The Evo 3D comes with HTC watch which cuts down the buffering time while watching online videos and facilitates easy download. The device is also integrated with YouTube 3D. For its business customers, HTC has provided Microsoft ActiveSync and instant messaging.
It runs on a 1730 mAh battery that ensures that the phone can stand up to heavy long hours usage. The Evo also comes pre-loaded with 3D movies such as the Green Hornet 3D and games such as Sims 3.
In India, the 3D smartphone market is currently in its initial stages, considering this and HTC Evo 3D makes for a good buy for all mobile users who want to experince a 3D smartphone.
The HTC EVo is pricied at Rs. 35,990 in India.
