Published on Aug 30, 2011

Qualcomm has partnered with Huawei, ZTE, Quanta and BandRich to provide LTE TDD multi-mode devices in India based on Qualcomm’s MDM9x00 chipsets. LTE TDD will work with 3G to provide a seamless mobile broadband experience to consumers.

Victor Shan, President Huawei Devices India, said, “we are pleased to collaborate with Qualcomm to announce the world’s first multi-mode LTE TDD Dongle E392 based on Qualcomm’s MDM9600 which is anticipated to be commercially available in the third quarter of 2011…it enables a seamless mobile broadband experience for internet surfing, HD video downloading, 3D multi-media, navigation and gaming.”

LTE currently works with 3G HSPA and EV-DO networks to offer mobile broadband services to users through multi-mode devices. With the launch of the new products, this experience is ready to be taken to the next level. Qualcomm is leading the way forward with its trademarked chipsets; the company came up with the industry’s first 3G/LTE multi-mode chipsets.

Dr. Avneesh Agrawal, Senior VP Qualcomm and President Qualcomm India and South Asia said, “the announcement of LTE TDD devices today is a significant milestone for the commercialisation and deployment of LTE in concert with 3G for Indian BWA operators.”

With this launch, the market is only going to get more competitive with providers coming up with smarter devices regularly. This is great news for consumers who can finally enjoy uninterrupted and super fast connections to the internet on their mobile devices through various platforms. Networking and entertainment providers too are sure to line with more sophisticated applications to entice users.

By early 2012, the face of mobile internet in India will change, with the New Year seeing a number of new services, faster speeds and more stylish devices. It looks like the Indian market is finally ready to stand at par with the fast developing international markets of the West and the Far East.
