Xperia Arc S coming soon
Published on Sep 2, 2011
Xperia Arc S is almost a carbon copy of its predecessor Xperia Arc, with a few upgraded features that allow for a faster and more mobile experience. It comes with a “3D sweep panorama” mode that lets users capture images from its rear facing camera that can be reproduced and viewed as 3D images when connected to a 3D TV via HDMI. Unfortunately, since the display of the phone is not 3D enabled, images can not be viewed in 3D on the smartphone itself.
Another development that comes with the Xperia Arc S is the increase in the size of the processor that powers the phone. The phone will run on a 1.4 GHz processor, an improvement from Xperia Arc’s 1 GHz processor. According to Sony Ericsson, this change will improve the smartphone’s performance by up to 25%, even though this processor is still single-core.
Sony Ericsson’s new offering will have access to unlimited music and video wherever they are available. The company claims that Xperia Arc S will provides users with 25% faster camera start-up times and 20% faster web browsing. The phone will probably be available in a multitude of colours including black, white, silver, blue and pink.
Other than these significant upgrades, Xperia Arc S carries much of the same specs as Xperia Arc. Though Sony Ericsson has not specified how much the new smartphone will cost, it is safe to assume that it will be slightly more expensive than Xperia Arc. Rumour has it that Xperia Arc S will hit the retail markets before the year end, maybe even as soon as next month.
It will be interesting to see how popular the phone’s 3D image capture works with users. Maybe Sony Ericsson will come up with a smartphone soon that not only captures but also displays 3D images at the touch of a button.
