The new tablet that comes out of the house of MTS will run on Android 2.3. This itself promises that the device will be bigger and better than anything the company has previously released. Though specs and pricing of this tablet are yet unknown, MTS will most likely continue it’s tradition of proving an affordable package of services to accompany its device.

Vsevolod Rozanoy, President and CEO, MTS India, confirmed the company’s future plans, “We will be launching an Android 2.3 based tablet by year end for the Indian market.”  Although further details of the tablet remain a mystery, the head of MTS kindled the interests of users, “We will have tablets for both premium and price sensitive customers.”

With the new tablet coming from MTS and other devices slated for release by market leaders around the same time, consumers are going to have a large number of competitive offers to choose from, this coming festive season. MTS will most likely be able to hold it’s own with affordable deals on its devices and mobile services.

MTS already has a Android Froyo powered tablet under its belt. Dubbed as MTS 1055 the tablet costs around Rs. 8000 has a lot to offer as well. It runs on Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor. Equipped with a 7’’ multi-touch display, the device comes with a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480. It has a 3-mega pixel camera and through its microSD memory card slot supports up to 32 GB of external memory.

The company recently released a number of handsets in the Indian market based on the Android OS. These handsets span from those available for approx. Rs. 5000 to sophisticated high end devices that cost much more. In this way, the company is looking to greatly expand its customer base.

What sets MTS apart from its peers is the number of bundled services it is offering with its devices. Users going in for the MTS handsets under an annual contract get a great deal with talk time, messaging and data plans. Their schemes work best for those with high data download needs on their mobile devices.
