Amazon to launch its 7-inch tablet in November now

Amazon plans to launch its 7-inch tablet by the end of November. The tablet is estimated to be available at a price of $250 (Rs 12500 approx.), making it yet another budget device in the line.

The Amazon tablet is said to be packed with a single core chip and 6GB internal storage. It is also said to have a capacitive touch screen. The 7-inch tablet is a two finger complete multi-touch screen and touted to be a ‘kindle with a difference’.

The device encompasses a micro-USB support and speakers. For now, the device will be Wi-Fi only and not 3G. It is speculated that later versions will have 3G. It has rubber finish just like BlackBerry Playbook even though both are quite similar in looks. It also has a power button underneath.

The device comes without a camera, which can be disappointing for some. Amazon plans to give its users free subscription of Amazon Prime that otherwise costs $79 a year. This service gives users free unlimited two-day shipping, no minimum purchases for free shipping and access to Amazon’s Instant Video service.

Amazon plans to launch a 10-inch tablet in the future as well that will be 3G compatible. This tablet will be more costly as compared to the 7-inch tablet.The Amazon tablet would be the latest in the market joining the likes of Samsung and Motorola.

Amazon’s 7-inch tablet is an unspoken challenge to Apple Inc’s iPad. It is cheaper and smaller than iPad. Nevertheless, Apple seems to be pretty confident with its reputation in the market.

Since Apple introduced the tablet and virtually ruled the market with quality products to vouch for, it seems to sit pretty while other players jostle around to get a foothold in the tablet market.
