Acer has unveiled its first Windows Phone Mango OS enabled phone at the IFA 2011. Dubbed W4, the phone packs in a new Acer UI and a 1 GHz processor.  Sporting a 3.6-inch 480 x 800p WVGA touchscreen display the device comes strapped with a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and 8 GB internal memory.

In addition to that, it comes with an accelerometer and pre-loaded Facebook support. The handset runs on Wi-Fi 802.1.1, Bluetooth 2.1, MicroUSB support and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Acer also launched its Liquid Mini Ferrari smartphone along with the W4 handse at the IFA. The handset has been exclusively designed for Ferrari fans. It features a chrome body with an original Ferrari icon at the back.

Along with that, it comes with a customized Ferrari Red color and pre-loaded Ferrari ringtones, wallpapers and screensavers.

The handset comes equipped with an Android 2.1 OS. It offers a 3.2-inch HVGA display, a 5-megapixel camera and a 600 MHz processor that ironically would not be considered very fast, unlike the Ferrari itself.

With the unveiling of this handset, Acer has lodged into a race with Nokia to release the first major Windows Phone 7 (WP7)  – Mango OS handset. Both manufacturers are slated to release their handsets next month.

Acer is yet to make its  mark in the smartphone market where it competes with brands such as Nokia and Samsung. So far, it has failed to excite us with its offerings.

No official word about the Indian release dates and prices of both the phones is out yet.
