The next LG Optimus 3D 2 is expected to come up with a 7mm thinner design

Dr. Henry Noh Tech evangelist of LG, has disclosed LG's intention to launch the successor of LG Optimus 3D by next year. The most interesting thing about this upcoming handset ‘LG Optimus 3D 2’ is that its thickness will be reduced from 12mm to 7mm, which is almost thinner by 50 percent.

Speaking with Pocketlint, Noh said, phones available in the market today, are very homogeneous bearing similar features and hardware like OS, display size, fixed number of touch buttons among others.

Where other companies are busy in enlarging the size of the displays, LG has plans to modify the design of the smartphones.

Now you don't need to choose between the thinner handsets and the phones, which have 3D technology. Noh believes that the reduction of thickness of LG Optimus 3D 2 will spare this handset with the crowd of other handsets.

Interestingly other competing handsets like HTC EVO 3D, Aquos SH-12C and Sony’s upcoming Xperia Arc S are also planning to make similar changes in their upcoming models.

LG Optimus 3D was recently launched in India. Featuring a 1Ghz processor, the device comes with a powerful 1500mAh battery. Strapped with a stereoscoping 5-megapixel rear-facing cameras.

So, the reduction in its thickness will certainly upload it in the shelves of the smartphone dealers.
