Leak: Nokia N8-01 surfaces online

The N8-01, Nokia’s new version of its N8 handset has been leaked in an online video. A leaked Techblog.gr video provides us a look at the handset during a hands-on video of the Nokia 700 Symbian Belle. In fact, we are provided a first look at the N801 via the handset.

The video shows a smart handset with an edge-to edge curved screen. It is touted to run on a Symbian OS. The handset actually seems quite different from the current N8, which would seem a bit bulky compared to the handset in the video. Nokia has also changed the shape of the handset. Unlike its predecessor that was known for its unique trapezium shape, the N8-01 would have a more rectangular form factor.  

The handset is speculated to sport a powerful camera, probably an 8-Megapixel or a 12-megapixel one. The video features the handset along with a stereo speaker system on a cloud leading us to believe that it might be compatible with a wireless speaker system working via Nokia cloud.

The screen in the video seems to be a 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. It appears to have a curved glass cover that has been earlier spotted in Nokia N9 and Nokia Sea Ray leaks. It is touted to have a 960 x 540 pixels resolution.

The phone is rumored to be equipped with Near-Fields-Communications (NFC) capability and is expected to be embedded with an NFC chip that would provide connectivity at hyper speeds. 

Furthermore, Nokia is expected to provide pre-loaded apps such as Ovi Maps, drive navigation and local reviews with the N8-01.

Nokia is expected to release this handset at the Nokia World Conference this year. No word on the pricing is out yet.
