Amazon is set to roll out its range of tablets in the next six months. Also known as the iPad-killer, the Amazon tablet is considered the closest thing to Apple’s iPad. Amazon is the only company to match Apple in the terms of infrastructure with its own app store, online store and vast distribution channels.
Until now, not much is known about this upcoming tablet. We provide you with a list of features that we would expect in this eagerly anticipated device:
Better hardware: Although a 7-inch Coyote is slated for release in November, we are more excited about the 10.1-inch version, which is more suited for professional requirements. It is always ‘ the bigger, the better’ with tablets.
For the average user, a tablet with the proper hardware in place does wonders. Everyone eyes tablets such as the Amazon tablet as a potential replacement for PCs and laptops.
Improved OS, apps: We have high expectations from the Amazon tablet as it comes with a customized version of the Android. The fact that the 7-incher comes with Android 2.3 instead of Android 3.0 alone leaves Android fans disappointed. But, the most enticing feature of the Amazon tablet is the Amazon appstore.
We would like the Amazon tablet to be as tightly integrated with the Amazon appstore as the iPad is with the Apple appstore.
Uniqueness: Although comparisons with the iPad are abound, we really don’t want a copy of the iPad. Up till now, no one has bee able to provide a tablet that really competes with the iPad. The reason behind this is that everyone has tried to imitate the iPad but have not been successful, as they do not have infrastructure that can be compared with Apple.
Amazon has a lot of ground to provide this, as there are numerous things that can be done with the tablet. Firstly, it could revamp the traditional display to provide us enhanced icons. Along with that, it could revamp the traditional home screen to include more icons. Moreover, it could chnge the way apps are displayed and provide us a simpler, user-friendly interface.
A patent-war free tablet: Patent wars such as Apple V/s Samsung are not only harmful to the brand itself, but also to consumers as it leads to delayed launches and loss of the brand's credibility.
The Amazon tablet is already having a delayed launch in November. We wouldn’t want it to be delayed any further due to patent troubles.
Low Entry-level cost: While tablets are nowadays available in every price range, an affordable tablet from Amazon would make it a must-buy.
Also, We wouldn’t want a tablet might be an attractive accessory but not an attractive buy.
