Mobile Guru: How to get themes on your LG KU990?

The biggest problem with LG KU990 is that you cannot install other handsets themes in this device. The system of this handset doesn’t support the flash themes and flash games. But Mobile Guru will show you a way around this.

There are two software that you need to download, one is the EFS Media Builder and second is the Theme Manager 2.3. Before using these software first backup your mobile data because there is probability that you might lose all the data.

The EFS Media builder will allow you to get access to the secret and hidden files of your mobile handset. By this software you will get access to modify the secret file and replace it with the new themes downloaded through the Theme manager. Theme Manager contains various themes such as the iPhone theme, windows theme and many other. By applying these themes you can change the UI of LG KU990.

Step to install the theme:

Step1: Run EFS Media Builder, and navigate to “LGAPP/Media/swf/theme”. Backup “theme_bg2.swf”.

Step 2: choose the location where you want to install it.

Step 3: Installing to Phone Memory: (Recommended by me, for faster accessing!)

1) Edit the “ThemeList.txt” file to make all custom themes point towards the phone memory (//LGAPP/Media/swf/theme/Themes)
2) Navigate to “LGAPP/Media/swf/theme” with EFS Media Builder.
3) Drag and drop “theme_bg2.swf” file and the “Themes” folder into this location then restart the phone.
4) Navigate to Settings, Screen, Handset theme and pick Silver from the list.

Installing to Memory Card:

1) Install “theme_bg2.swf” into “LGAPP/Media/swf/theme” using EFS Media Builder then restart the phone once done.
2) Navigate to Settings, Phone settings, Connectivity, USB Connection mode and pick Mass Storage from the list then connect the phone to pc
3) Switch USB connection mode to Mass Storage then browse to the Memory Card/Removable Storage.
4) Drag and drop the “Themes” folder from the rar file directly to the root of the memory card.
6) Navigate to Settings, Screen, Handset theme and pick Silver from the list.
