Sharp announces a 3D Smartphone Aquos SH8298U

Published on Sep 14, 2011

Soon after HTC's 3D smartphone EVO 3D and LG’s Optimus 3D, now Sharp has also joined the race of introducing 3D handset. Sharp has forayed into the 3D smartphone market with the launch of its Aquos SH8298U, as per a news post on GSM Arena.

The Japanese multinational company has announced this device with  Android 2.3.4 operating system, which is the latest version available on Android platform as of now. The device comes equipped with a 4.2-inch qHD screen with glasses-free stereoscopic 3D display, for excellent viewing experience.

The Sharp smartphone is powered by a single-core 1.4GHz CPU with an Adreno 205 GPU. It comes along with an in-built 512 MB of RAM and 2GB of ROM. The mobile phone sports two 8-megapixel rear cameras with a single LED flash for 3D recording, though its video resolution hasn’t been revealed as of now.

The device comes equipped with a 1240mAh battery that seems quite low according to its screen size and 3D features. The Sharp phone's battery might decide its fate in the market, as if it does not give good backup, that could be a major draw-back of the device.

Aquos SH8298U includes a 3D depth slider that most of users would find useful, as presently glasses-free 3D viewing might take some time to get used to.

Currently, the Sharp's 3D smartphone has launched in Japan only, but soon it is likely to hit other parts of the globe.
