Know Your Mobile brings you a list of tablets and smartphones that you can give a slip

A slew of tablets and smartphones have made a entry in the Indian markets. While some have tasted success others have failed to create a buzz. We take a look at the ones that died without a spark:
Notionink Adam Android tablet: Notion ink Adam has now been shipping their product for close to six months now. But a lot of complaints about the product have been traced on their web Forum. For instance, the system doesn’t boot and sometimes the Wi-Fi-connectivity is a issue. Many of them even want to resell their device. We hope that the next model Adam 2 will address all the issues with Adam and brings a better user experience for Notion Ink fans.
Google Nexus: The Google experiment for self branding in smartphones manufacturing failed with Nexus. There was lot of hype surrounding the device such as it will end the device-carrier exclusivity and incorporate a new era of wireless freedom. But unfortunately the device failed to live up to the expectations. Google usually puts all its devices on direct sales but Nexus was available only via online store.
HP touchpad: Hewlett-Packard launched its touchpad at the price for Rs. 22k approx., but in a very short time the price of this touchpad slashed down by Rs. 5,000. Why such a slump in the price? It may be because the touchpad failed to spark the excitement in the consumer due to its high price and low standard of tech specs.
Dell Streak: Dell streak is neither a tablet nor a samrtphone. It’s a hybrid between tablet and a smartphone. It is an expensive device around 34k and its display size is just 5-inch which is very small when compared to tablets and very large if compared to smartphones. It’s powered with 1Ghz Qualcomm processor due to which it works fast, but it doesn’t support Divx and Xvid video format and runs on an older version of Android.
Sony tablets S & P: Sony tablets failed to impress the consumer's due to the high range and low tech specs of its devices. The prices of these devices are around Rs. 25k, which is very near to the price of Apple iPad. So, “the consumer will not be ready to pay the same amount they for a device which is not an iPad,” feels Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi.
