It is no secret that the Canadian handset manufacturer RIM is making continuous efforts to regain its lost market share. RIM’s efforts seem to have given birth to new handset – the Blackberry Bold 9790. The handset is rumored to encompass the features of a Blackberry Bold 9900 in a Blackberry 9700 body.
Know your mobile provides you with an overview of this upcoming handset.
The Blackberry 9790 is touted to be another addition to the existing Blackberry. Looking at the pictures and specs leaked by BGR, it seems an interesting smartphone.
The Bold 9900 seems to have been used as blueprint for designing the Bold 9790. While it looks a bit smaller than the 9900, the Bold 9790 packs in a touchscreen along with a full QWERTY keypad.
Looking at the leaked pictures, the handset seems to sport a 2.6-2.8-inch display. It is rumored to be equipped with a 1.2 GHz processor. The Bold 9790 would come with 8 GB internal memory that would be most probably expandable to 32/64 GB.
Although it would have a 5-megapixel camera at the back the handset might also sport a smaller front facing camera for video chat.
We assume that this handset would sport the latest Blackberry OS – the OS 7. According to speculations, the handset would also feature an NFC (Near-fields communication) chip along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.
When compared with the 9700 and 9900 handsets it seems a sibling to both. Hopefully, RIM has made efforts this time to resolve the low battery problem that has been persistent with its handsets.
RIM used to reign the market some years ago. But, with the advent of Android it has been pushed to the backseat. Blackberry nowadays seems to have become an option only for those who are enamored by Blackberry-specific features such as the Blackberry messenger (BBM).
Blackberry is slated to launch 7 touchscreen phones this year out of which two – the 9900 and 9810 handsets have already been launched.
No release date or price is currently available for the Blackberry Bold 9790 handset.
