At the 2011 International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany, Valeo showed off its latest invention, an innovative iPhone app. Valeo is well known as a producer of apparatus used in the automotive industry.
The new iPhone app lets users park their cars remotely. The app works in conjunction with Park4U, the system preloaded in certain cars manufactured by Volkswagen, Lincoln, Ford and Audi. Park4U enables owners to park their cars into positions of parallel and perpendicular parks with minimal effort. The system does most of the work for the driver by using sensors to pull the vehicle into a slot. All the driver has to do is control the brakes and the acceleration of the car.
According to CNET, Valeo’s new app takes Park4U further. With the app loaded on the iPhone, users no longer need to control the brake and accelerator pedals physically, by taking the drivers seat. Now even these can be controlled remotely through the application running on the phone. Perfect for when one is in a hurry or needs to pull into a tight spot!
Though this new technology was showcased just recently at the show in Frankfurt and might not to completely developed yet, it does provide an insight into what the future holds. If the new app works seamlessly with Park4U, it might just be the beginning of other developments on similar lines.
Applications such as this one promise to make life easy by completing chores faster and with more efficiency. It might take them a while, but it definitely looks like manufacturing giants will have a lot to offer consumers in the coming years.
Further details of the app like its release date, development stage, cost etc are yet not known but we will keep a look out for it. We hope it hits the market soon.
