
Samsung to triple mobile handsets production with Rs 315 cr investment in Noida

Samsung plans to set up a new mobile manufacturing unit in Noida hiring additional 1500 people in India

Samsung the world’s leading mobile manufacturing company has announced its investment plan of Rs. 315 crore (US$70 million) to set up new facilities at Noida manufacturing plant. Samsung claims that with the establishment of this manufacturing unit Samsung will triple the production of mobile handsets in India.
While announcing this investment J.S. Shin, President and CEO, Samsung South West Asia said, “India is one of the top 3 mobile markets for Samsung in the world and we stand committed to this market and our Indian consumer. Given the strong potential of this market, we are working on consistently strengthening our presence in the country through a very innovative mobile portfolio as well as enhance manufacturing and R&D operations.”
This plant is the Samsung’s sixth overseas manufacturing unit in the world. The company has installed hi-tech SMD machines at this mobile unit.
Along with this the company has also recruited additional 1500 employees for this manufacturing unit taking the strength of the company to 4000 employees.
The Noida plant will also be used to work on other products like Flat Panel TVs, and Flat TVs, Refrigerator, Air Conditioners and Washing Machines apart from the mobiles.
When we asked Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Country Head, mobile and IT Biz Samsung about expanding service centres to cater to customers, he confirmed that every district of India will have its own mobile service centre soon.
