Touted to be the cheapest dual-SIM feature phone in the world, the Nokia 101 has been launched in India.
The Nokia 101, part of the Nokia next billion initiative is an innovative dual-SIM feature handset available at a price of Rs. 1,799.
Besides offering dual-SIM functionality, the handset offers an exceptional dual-SIM feature in the form of a unique SIM manager that stores the settings of up to 5 SIM cards. Along with that, it offers a 103 Phone speaker, FM Radio and one of the best storage capacities in feature phones – up to 16 GB.
Additionally, the 101 comes loaded with Nokia life tools that offers many useful apps such as Nokia money.
Nokia also has a cheaper basic handset under its wings. This handset, called the Nokia 100, would be equipped with Nokia Life Tools and an FM Radio.
While the Nokia 101 comes in Red and Black colors, the 100 handset would be available in even more vibrant pink, blue, black and red hues.
The 101 is a unique handset in itself. No other handset in this price bracket matches it in specifications. When we compare it with other dual SIM phones such as the Motorola EX109 or the Samsung Hero, they either come out too costly or devoid of anything besides dual-SIM functionality.
Once considered the king of the mobile market, Nokia is making efforts to regain its lost market share. After posting 44 percent loss in the last quarter, one would have thought that Nokia no longer mattered, but it has bounced back with handsets such as the Nokia 101.
After Apple replaced Nokia as the market leader in phones, the company faced a number of setbacks. Most of its handsets were considered either too costly or too outdated. But, Nokia has put its vast market experience to use. Rather than copying others or being rattled itself, Nokia has made an effort to create a niche for itself and its efforts with the 101 and 100 handsets is actually laudable.
Know your mobile salutes the spirit of Nokia.
