According to All Things Digital, J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz wrote a research note to clients talking about the launch of the iPad 3. Said Moskowitz, “There are prototypes in the supply chain related to the next generation device, but our conversations with industry participants suggest that a new device will not be available until sometime in 2012.”
Moskowitz also noted that since Apple is the largest player in the tablet market with no real rival threatening it’s position, the company doesn’t need to come out with the next version of it’s iPad in a hurry. He does have a point. International Data Corporation recently found in its market research that the iPad 2 enjoys above 68% of the market.
Apple usually releases its tablets in the spring. Since the iPad 2 came out in March this year, it makes sense for the firm to wait a while before releasing its next device. If it hurries the launch of the iPad 3, the sales of the iPad 2 will be affected adversely, not to mention the dilemma it will put it’s consumers into. A gap in the launches of similar devices generates interest and gives the company enough time to work on significant upgrades.
The iPad 3 does indeed promise to be the next big thing. Into Mobile had reported a few days ago that the tablet’s battery is rumoured to be thinner, lighter and more powerful than the battery that powers the iPad 2. It will also supposedly allow a larger number of recharge cycles in its life time. Even the display of the new iPad is rumoured to be upgraded to the ‘Retina Display’.
With a faster processor and longer battery life combined with a crystal clear display, the iPad 3 is going to take the world by storm whenever it releases. With all its next generation features, it will certainly be worth the wait!
