Samsung courts Apple iPhone 5 in Korea

Published on Sep 21, 2011

The Samsung-Apple patent war seems to have become a never-ending battle. Samsung is already gunning for the iPhone 5 even before the device’s expected release next month.

A person choosing to remain anonymous has commented in Korea Times – “Just after the arrival of the iPhone 5 here, Samsung plans to take Apple to court here [in Korea] for its violation of Samsung’s wireless technology related patents.”

Samsung seems to lashing back at Apple with increased vengeance after the company blocked the sales of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Europe by infringing its patents.

The person further added – “For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.”

According to tech crunch, the only way Apple can avoid patent troubles would be providing us with an iPhone that looks similar to the iPod Touch. It seems highly unlikely Apple would have the inclination or ability to make design changes with regard to the iPhone 5 as the device is expected to be launched next month.

An anonymous senior Korea Times correspondent also commented – “We are taking different tactics since we are quite confident. If Samsung wins in Germany that will give us a big breakthrough and so will other envisioned efforts against such products as the iPhone 5.”

Once mutual dependents, Samsung and Apple have turned into bitter foes after Samsung launched its Galaxy Tab that was thought to be the best rival to Apple’s iPad.

Apple and Samsung are currently acting like kids on a playground. In fact, false patents and blocked devices just show us how mean they can be to each other.

Know Your Mobile hopes that they reach an amicable solution soon.
