With FCC certification in place, the HTC Radar, earlier known as the HTC Omega, is a step closer to releasing in the retail market.
The HTC Radar is a mid range phone powered by a 1 GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8255 processor. It offers 8 GB storage and 512 MB RAM. The smartphone runs on a 1520 mAh battery. Other features include HSPA / WCDMA and quad-band GSM, GPRS, Blueooth 2.1, EDGE and DLNA for streaming media wirelessly.
HTC’s latest offering has a 3.8’’ WVGA LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 800. A 5-mega pixel camera with LED flash is capable of capturing video at 720p. This main camera is accompanied by a front facing VGA camera used for video chats, a feature offered by Windows Phone Mango 7.5 OS.
The touch phone includes improved HTC hubs like weather, stocks, news etc as well. It does provide for a 3.5 mm audio jack but lacks an HDMI port. Available in a metallic and a white finish, the HTC Radar resembles the Trophy 7 and the HTC Flyer. Its dimensions of 120 x 61.5 x 10.8 mm do not make it the lightest or the thinnest phone though.
The features on the HTC Radar are basic, but the phone does run on Windows Phone Mango 7.5. The phone’s pricing is not yet known but given that it is not a high end device, it should be reasonably priced. It might be a good buy for someone who wants all of the facilities Microsoft offers but doesn’t want to burn a hole in his pocket for a fancy smartphone.
Usually we see a India launch a month or two later, so with US launch eminent, the Indian Windows Mango phone will not have to wait long to get their hands on HTC Radar.
