Nokia World is usually held in September, but this year it is scheduled to be held a month later, making market analysts believe that the company is readying its first Windows Phone handset for release at its global event. Nokia has been talking about a shift to Windows for a while now and the move might actually take place by the end of this year.
Nokia’s big event will have a number of prominent speakers like Jo Harlow, Joe Belfiore, Niklas Savander, Jerri DeVard and Steven Overman. Discussions will revolve around issues like “Building A Different Kind Of UI”, “Designing Smarter Phones” and “Changing The Way We Discover And Enjoy music”, among others.
The event will offer an evening of networking and “Speakers’ Corners”, participants will get the opportunity to get into detailed conversations with the folks over at Nokia. The presence of Microsoft bigwigs like Albert Shum, Yusuf Mehdi and Joe Belfiore will keep the entire world’s attention focussed on Nokia’s partnership with Windows Phone.
The “Nokia Development Opportunity” will include talks, activities and discussions focussed on developers like “Windows Phone Spotlight”, “Growing Your Audience” and “App Shootout”. Brandon Watson and Marco Argenti are sure to make things interesting. The conference is slated to look at Nokia’s path for the future, app development, mobility and other such issues of the ever evolving mobile world.
Expectations are riding high from Nokia’s annual event. If the world’s leading handset manufacturer is able to deliver a functionally sound smartphone running on the Windows Phone operating system, it does have a chance of giving Samsung and Apple a run for their money this festive season. We will be waiting and watching.
