Announced couple of months back at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore, N9 has been in news since then. While everybody has been waiting with bated breath, expecting the arrival of the Meego powered handset nothing conclusive emerged - up until now.
Nokia has just officially released a statement confirming the shipping of Nokia N9. Ilari Nurmi, Vice President of Marketing, Nokia said, "With the innovations in industrial design, user interface, and the Qt developer experience, the Nokia N9 sets the bar for how natural technology can feel, and represents the first in a number of products from Nokia that will be brought to life in similar fashion."
The beautifully designed Nokia N9 works on the “Swipe” technology that Nokia proudly showed off during the launch. With no buttons to control the handset, the N9, gives enough room to the apps. With three home views - Applications, Events and Live Applications users can navigate seamlessly and faster through the smartphone.
Sporting a 3.9-inch AMOLED, scratch-resistant curved glass, N9 comes with NFC capabilities. The smartphone sports a 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss autofocus sensor. It contains a wide-angle lens for HD-quality video and can capture amazing photos even in low light conditions.
N9 also packs in Mobile Internet radio, Free turn-by-turn drive and walk navigation with voice-guided maps, social networking and Global and local apps. Available in black, cyan and magenta, N9 comes with 16GB and 64GB storage options and is priced at EUR 480 and EUR 560.
As far as India is concerned, the N9 may still be a little away from launch. Nokia took everybody by surprised when it didn't feature India on the list of countries expected to get handsets first. For Nokia, India has always been one of the prime markets and this move could backfire for Nokia.
