Apple has confirmed all the iPhone 5 October 4 release rumors by sending out media invites for an official iPhone launch on the same date at 10 a.m. Pacific time (8 p.m. in India). The Apple invite is designed in a curious way, which has sent many people thinking and coming up with different stories to explain it.

The Apple invite shows four iOS icons – a calendar showing Tuesday the 4th, a signature iOS clock showing the time as 10 a.m. A navigator icon which doesn’t explain much, but most strangely, a missed call icon indicating one missed call. Along with that, it includes the tagline – Let’s talk iPhone.

So, what does the missed call icon indicate?

The most prominent guess about this icon is that Apple might have embedded the invites with a hidden meaning. While rumors about an affordable iPhone 4S and even iPhone 4S cases have surfaced online, Apple is yet to confirm that it is releasing two iPhones.

The iPhone launch event could either be an iPhone 5 launch or an iPhone 4S launch. We would bet on the former if we had to choose one, as Apple would be most probably be concentrating on its high-end, highly anticipated handset rather than an affordable handset, which it hasn’t worked on till date.

On the other hand, Apple might be just making fun of armchair strategists who spread rumors about its devices by sending out such invites. But, Apple is Apple. Being the best smartphone company in the world, Apple would not do something like this just for fun.

Either way, it is Apple’s habit to keep everyone guessing. To find out what really happens, we will have to wait for Apple’s official announcement.

Till then, we promise to keep you posted on all the buzz surrounding the iPhone.
