Samsung Electronics, world's second-biggest mobile handset manufacturer has alleged Apple of 3G patents infringement.
The company stated that Apple Inc has been indulging in this structural infringement since the time it forayed smartphone arena with its ground-breaking device, iPhone 3G.
For those who don't know, the Korean electronics company is seeking banishment on selected Apple products in a plea filed in a Netherlands court. Samsung has filed as many as four lawsuits against Apple.
This is not the first time that the two globally recognized brands have locked horns, legally. Apple Inc, in a lawsuit filed in the month of April in US, claimed that Samsung's Galaxy Tab is a clear copy of its iPad. In the lawsuit, Apple notified court that it employs Intel Corp's chipsets for iPhones in Europe.
It further informed court that all licenses are covered in the same way only. Apple further accused Samsung of having vested interest since it wants to own 2.4 percent of the chip price on the patents under purview.
Interestingly, on sales front, Apple's iPad has left Samsung's Galaxy Tab far behind. Clearly, majority of market experts claim the injunction as a cleverly thought way of slowing down Apple's success. From Samsung's point of view, what is more irritating is the fact that despite being the maker of second-best selling tablet after Apple's iPad, it has failed miserably on commercial front.
Meanwhile, Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc too has dragged Apple Inc to court over the iPhone's touchscreen issue. The case is under US Trade Commission.
As for Apple, recently it had won a case against Samsung over the similar patent dispute in Netherlands. However, point to be noted here is the fact that court did not enforced the ruling on Samsung's tablet devices.
